P50 Project Description: This project seeks to understand domains of caregiving support for South Asian families who identify as Hindu, Sikh, or Muslim in the NY and NJ area. Through interviews with faith leaders and volunteers, the study explores how faith-based communities currently provide assistance such as respite, meals, and psychosocial support and their capacity to expand caregiving resources. We are also collecting survey data from family caregivers to better understand their experiences with burden, stress, and emotional and religious coping. By integrating insights from both community members and caregivers, the project aims to identify culturally responsive opportunities to enhance caregiving support within South Asian faith-based settings. Ultimately, it will inform the development of a tailored caregiver support intervention that can be implemented across these communities.
