Sophie Zhijing Xu is a Postdoctoral Associate at New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing. Dr. Xu received her Ph.D., MSN, and BSN from Fudan University. Before joining NYU, she was an Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine at Shanghai Jiaotong University and a visiting scholar at Duke University. Dr. Xu’s research focuses on cardiometabolic disease epidemiology, gene-environment interactions, mental health, and minority health. Her current CAHPE P50 pilot project, “The Individual-Interpersonal-Community Influence on the Prevalence of Depression among Asian Americans with Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic (CKM) Syndrome,” examines the prevalence of depression symptoms among American adults with and without CKM syndrome across different racial and ethnic groups, with a particular focus on Asian American subgroups. The project also explores how individual, interpersonal, and community factors influence depression in these populations and compares these factors among individuals with depression only, CKM only, or both conditions.
