Wai Yee Chan has devoted nearly 27 years to serving the Asian American community, beginning her journey as a foreign student pursuing graduate studies at Teachers College, Columbia University. Guided by her belief that preserving cultural heritage strengthens identity and promotes diversity, she dedicated herself to community service through the Chinese-American Planning Council, supporting children, youth, seniors, immigrants, and families with special needs in Brooklyn. In 2022, she was appointed Executive Director of Homecrest Community Services. Recognized as one of Brooklyn’s 33 Extraordinary Women and a recipient of the Shirley Chisholm Women of Excellence Award, Wai Yee also serves on several advisory boards, including the NYU Langone Family Health Center and CaringKind – The Heart of Alzheimer’s Caregiving. Her extensive experience in the nonprofit sector fuels her mission to bridge resources with community needs, and she remains deeply committed to building a thriving, inclusive community by actively listening to and addressing its concerns.
