Xiaoyue Liu, PhD, RN

Xiaoyue Liu, PhD, RN is an Assistant Professor at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. Her research interests include cardiovascular disease, sleep, as well as identifying and addressing health disparities among minority populations. 

Liu has experience conducting research that focuses on sleep and cardiovascular health among Asian Americans. The goal of her research is to develop a tailored sleep intervention to improve cardiovascular health outcomes and reduce health disparities. 

Project summary:  

The overall purpose of this pilot study is to develop a culturally sensitive sleep intervention for Filipino immigrants. This study seeks to 1) understand sleep experiences and explore the influence of cultural beliefs and practices on sleep among Filipino immigrants, and 2) culturally adapt the intervention components for Filipino immigrants. Successful implementation of this study has the potential to be expanded to address sleep issues among other Asian immigrant groups.
